Health benefits of Chinook salmon
Eating fish reduces the risk of death from heart disease13, the number two cause of death in both men and women14.
Many of the health benefits of eating salmon come from the Omega-3 fatty acids it contains. Because we aim to re-create a natural diet as closely as possible, fish from Creative Salmon are higher in Omega-3s than some other farmed salmon.
Omega-3 fatty acids:
- Reduce inflammation in our bodies. Inflammation can be at the root of many health problems, including heart disease, diabetes, some types of cancers (oesophagus, colon, breast, ovary, prostate and oral cavities) and arthritis.
- Provide cardio-protective benefits, by making the blood less likely to form clots (which can cause strokes), lowering blood fat levels and protecting against irregular heartbeats that cause sudden cardiac death.
- Enhance brain development in infants and children, and promote learning.
- May be able to help slow cognitive problems such as Alzheimer's disease and age-related cognitive decline. Eating salmon may also help prevent depression, suicide and aggressive behaviour.15
