Fish health and welfare is a very important focus for Creative Salmon.
With this in mind we start by introducing healthy, high quality smolts to
sea.
From there good fish husbandry is the key to healthy fish. Our fish are
grown in a stress free, low density environment. Our fish occupy pens
measuring 100ft x 100ft x 50ft deep. Each cage has the equivalent volume
of 3,750,000 US gallons of water. The fish occupy less than 1% of this
volume at maximum density, which occurs only during the 2 - 3 months prior
to harvest.
The results of
this attention to fish health are survival rates typically greater then
90% during their 18-month production cycle.
